Introduction Centre Vaima

Dear Visitors,

Welcome to the Centre Vaima in the heart of the town of Papeete, capital of the island of Tahiti and French Polynesia. The Centre Vaima is the biggest building in Papeete and is on the sea front, looking out on the cruise boats and the constant crossings of the ferries serving the magical island of Moorea and the Windward Isles of which the most enchanting is Bora Bora. Just behind it, the Cathedral dominates a number of buildings, head offices of some of the Territory's biggest companies. At one time, it marked the town with its styling that managed was both modern and respected Polynesian culture.

The Centre Vaima is in the heart of the capital, Papeete, and is its biggest shopping centre. It was opened on February 4th 1977. Since then it has become a centre of attraction for both tourists and local Tahiti residents. The idea for the centre came from Mr. Charles F Feeney, an Irish businessman who was a co-founder of Duty Free Shoppers International and investor in many tourist and leisure industry projects in the USA and the Pacific, including in Guam, Hawaii, Australia, the Gold Coast, Bali, Singapore, Phuket, etc. …

The Centre Vaima is in the town centre between two major routes, boulevard Pomare on the seafront and rue du Général De Gaule, and contains a pleasant space organised into plazas on the ground floor. This development has almost 23,000 m2 on five floors, which are easily accessed using the two escalators and two elevators, and you will find:
