About Centre Vaima
An iconic landmark in the heart of Papeete, where heritage meets renewal
Welcome to Centre Vaima

An emblematic
waterfront center
Nestled in the heart of Papeete—the capital of Tahiti in French Polynesia—Centre Vaima enjoys a strategic location directly opposite the international cruise port and the ferry terminal serving Moorea and the Leeward Islands. Behind it, the cathedral overlooks the city, surrounded by the region’s foremost public and private institutions.

A pioneering architecture with Polynesian identity
Opened on February 4, 1977, Centre Vaima was the first modern shopping mall in French Polynesia. Designed by Irish-American businessman and Atlantic Philanthropies founder Charles F. Feeney, the building blends modern design with respect for local cultural values. Centre Vaima has shaped Papeete’s urban history, becoming an essential hub for both residents and visitors.

A diverse retail and professional offering
With over 60 businesses spread across five levels, Centre Vaima offers::
- Restaurants, snack bars, and tea lounges,
- Fashion boutiques, beauty salons, jewelry stores, and home décor shops,
- Service providers for individuals and businesses: travel agencies, telecom operators, banks, medical practices, IT and legal firms,
- An administrative center housing various legal and healthcare professionals,
